Live life Pro-actively, not Re-actively.

I have found that if you anticipate the worse, you can be prepared if the worse comes to fruition. If you are forced to react due to an unforeseen circumstance, your actions and choices may not always be what is best for the situation. I am not encouraging you to always look for the worst case scenario, quite the contrary, instead by knowing what the worst case scenario is, will allow you to effectively prepare for the best case scenario.

Does this concept sound confusing? It shouldn’t, and is not meant to be. The concept is simple, don’t just plan for today, have a pretty good idea of what you are going to do tomorrow as well. Now ‘today’ and ‘tomorrow’ are used symbolically, as a metaphor for life. Don’t just live for the moment, plan for a lifetime.

Life Pro-actively. Plan for your life, plan the events you would like to see happen. Plan the way you would react when a curveball is thrown your way. Don’t let the curveball ruin the plan; rather allow the plan to handle the curveball.

Reactive people do exactly the opposite. They are so consumed with getting through the current day, that they forget to plan for the next. When a curveball is thrown their way, naturally they react the only way they know how, in complete and utter chaos. Since they are living re-actively, they have no game plan in place to deal with the curveball, and as such the current day they are in gets ruined, along with each following day until they figure out how to deal with the curveball.

Pro-active people deal with the curveball, allowing it to play its course, but by the rules established by the plan at hand. Effectively managing the curveball is key to the pro-active person.

Reactive people put out today’s fires with tomorrows water, leaving no water for tomorrow. Pro-active people however have enough water throughout the day to put out that fire without touching the resources set-aside for tomorrow.

Live Pro-actively; change your thought process to allow you to plan for not just today, but tomorrow as well. You will benefit greatly if you do this, and your life will be more adept at dealing with the curveball if you already have planned for it.
